Litigation Paralegal- On-Site Position

Volk Law Offices, P.A. is seeking an experienced litigation paralegal to join our firm in Melbourne, FL.

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of litigation trials.
  • Type a minimum of 45 words per minute.
  • Proficient in the use of office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat).
  • Must possess the ability to multi-task, prioritize, handle a fast-paced environment, and manage workload with a positive attitude and minimal supervision.
  • Ability to take initiative and support staff.
  • Strong dedication to the best outcome for all parties associated with our practice.
  • Great written and communication skills, be proficient in calendar depositions, mediation, and hearings with attention to detail.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow procedure and implement case management plans.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and documentation of court and agency filing requirement/procedures.
  • Strong communication skills both in writing and orally, with an emphasis on proofreading
  • Positively interact with representatives from courts, clients, external interested parties, and members of government in order to achieve client and practice goals.
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities, competing deadlines, capture billable hours and work in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn and adopt new methodologies.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.
  • Frequent interaction with existing clients, both via telephone and in person.
  • Complete intakes on prospective cases
  • Work directly with multiple coworkers involved in the management and support of case files.
  • Maintain organized case files.
  • Interact with attorneys and present case synopsis when required.
  • Manage case files from intake to closing under the direction of an attorney.
  • Assist with drafts, pleadings, discovery and motions to prepare cases for trial, mediation or arbitration.
  • Understanding of how to deal with motions, prepare for trial, and maintain proactive client/case accountability.
